How, where and when to propose is very special and one that often needs careful consideration. Or maybe just spontaneity is the answer so don’t worry of these seem a little over the top for you. But if you want to make your proposal one to be remembered and one to talk about for years to come we’ve got a few suggestions. Some are more traditional and then there are some which are quite adventurous!
Your
favourite place together – one that means allot to both of you. It could be a
place where there’s lots of people or where there’s no-one but yourselves. But
if there is someone else there be a bit cheeky and ask someone to take your picture - you could even drop down on one knee for
that perfect picture moment. And this image could be used on your Wedding invitations to give them a luxurious touch.
Propose by a song. Get a band together, choir etc. and have them surprise your partner with a rendition of one of their favourite songs. A park, or open space would be great fro this. Maybe even make this extra special and have the song personalised with your names. You could even get the same band to play at your Wedding reception and even highlight this on your Wedding invitations so everyone know the connection.
If you have a local aquarium, you could ask if they’d get one of their divers to pop the big question on a water proof board from inside the aquarium. You could use the image of the two of you in front of the diver and message on your Save the Date cards, everyone will know what it is straight away.
When
you were a kid if you loved a good treasure hunt you could make your own up
with the engagement ring as the last clue. Tour all your favourite places
following each clue. You could even make it a clue a day and make this special
moment last a little longer. A twist on this
could be a personalised jigsaw puzzle, so each clue is also another piece,
which creates a jigsaw with the words, ‘will you marry me?’
A classic idea would be to plan a romantic holiday or weekend break away. Pick your moment after a romantic meal, or get the waiter to pop the ring into a glass of champagne. You could even get the air hostess to propose over the load speaker on the plane there or back! You could even go back to the same hotel for your honeymoon once your wedding is over, or at least it would make a great destination for you wedding anniversary in years to come.
While
on a seaside break, write the BIG question in the sand, well away from the incoming
tide or spell out your proposal in candles and turn out the light.
Take a picture of each letter of the big question printed onto paper in lots of different locations and then text the photos over one by one over time. This also works well with pictures of letters from a magazine or newspaper. You could use the same idea as the design for your Luxury wedding invitations too.
Make some cupcakes and in the icing put
the question. You can get inkjet printer paper that you can print your message
onto so could share some great pictures of the both of you as well. Maybe even
use the same technique and send out your wedding invitations as cup cakes with
the detail printed on the special edible paper.
Create
a luxurious hamper with lots of different gifts you know they’ll love. One of the
gifts being the engagement ring, of course, in its stylish box. Or even go on a
picnic in the countryside and pack the ring as one of the items in the picnic hamper.
If
it’s icy be the real gent and offer to scrape the ice of the windscreen or rear
window and spell out ‘will you marry me?’. Remember to write it backward if you’re
doing it on the rear window to it reads correctly when looking through the rear
view mirror!
Get
a huge box and get in it yourself, with ring in hand. Make it look luxurious
with a great big box and a gift card to you partner.
If
it’s near Easter, get a huge luxurious Easter egg and carefully open it up and
if you can open the egg and place the ring inside.
So, some great ideas to create lasting memories to years to come and of course share on your Wedding Day itself. Following your engagement the next step is to start planning your Wedding Day and we’ve got some great help with that too on our A-Z of wedding planning.
